Network engineer, where is your money going?

Good afternoon, I'm Lao Yang.

Another year passed in a blink of an eye, and it was time for the autumn recruitment. Haha, the question is asked every year:

This year, do you have any perception of your industry environment?

Is it good or bad?

Do you want to run away or dig deeper?

Maybe there are different opinions on the answer, maybe your heart is also restless or has already been lying down, but before you act, read my analysis.

Be patient and talk to you in two points, two questions you may want to know recently.

Today's article reading benefits: "2023 Resume 1000+ Templates Encyclopedia"

01 How is the employment environment this year?

Do you think this year's network engineering industry is good or bad?

Many people will consider it from the perspective of the general environment, it must be bad! Do not rush to answer me, you can look at this picture, and then answer:

Is the latest salary data for fresh graduates in 2023 completely different from what you imagined?

Among the TOP5 industries, electronics/communications/semiconductors have the highest average annual salary of  188,300 , which is ahead of all first-tier industries.

After all, the media is overwhelmingly publicizing that the unemployment rate of fresh graduates has repeatedly broken new lows, but no one tells you that those who deserve high salaries will always have high salaries, and that the starting point of someone's graduation may be the end of your career.

Let's look at the next picture again:

Among the top 20 three-level functions with the largest year-on-year increase in new jobs for fresh graduates in 2023, after-sales technical support, scientific research personnel, and live streaming with goods rank the top three, with growth rates of 133.75%, 130.85%, and 104.93%.

After-sales technical support plays an important role in after-sales service, deeply affecting user experience and reputation, and the demand has repeatedly hit new highs.

Combined with the growth path of network engineers that I have analyzed before, the direction of "after-sales" is given priority. Fans and friends who really follow the advice, don't you just grasp this market opportunity?

If you want to say which position has the highest salary in the market now, you must first choose the right industry.

The IT industry is a good choice. If you are already in the mountains, then we have to look at the next subdivision direction.

For example, smart manufacturing is a new field of high-paying jobs.

However, it requires practitioners to have the ability to integrate technologies across fields, and to understand both manufacturing and algorithms.

It must not only have hardware support, software foundation and coding ability, but also have strong soft qualities, such as initiative, flexibility, collaboration...

At the same time, talents with such characteristics are relatively scarce, and rare people are more expensive, so the recruitment salary is higher.

For example, AIGC and AI large-scale models are the core fields related to ChatGPT that are currently popular all over the world. The entry threshold is very high, and high salary standards are naturally arranged.

In this way, the network industry is not a mass industry, nor is it a particularly high-paying industry, but it has always been a solid foundation for the IT industry.

Perhaps more than ten years ago, it was indeed thriving and flocked to, but with the passage of time, the development of the industry has already entered a period of deep adjustment.

What is depth adjustment?

That is, the breadth and depth are full, and the next step is resource allocation.

The most direct response is-technological changes happen from time to time, and the position of network engineer also changes accordingly.

For example, the direction of routing and switching is becoming more and more saturated, and the demand for network workers who require a single routing and switching technology continues to decline;

However, attention to network security, cloud computing, and big data continues to rise, the market potential is huge, and high-paying jobs are emerging one after another.

It can be said that the changes in the environment still give network workers a lot of opportunities, but at the same time, the ability requirements for network engineers are also being updated.

In this case, how do you plan your career development path?

You need to clarify three things:

Understand your industry environment> find your favorite direction> understand your own core competitiveness> output your career development plan

Other than that, is there anything else I should be aware of?

02 How can a network engineer jump to a good company?

The first step, you understand your environment,

In the second step, you understand some high-paying job trends in the industry,

In the third step, you compare your own skill point market and make a rough analysis.

In the fourth step, you can start looking at the company you want to work for.

The fifth step is to compare the requirements of the target position, start to fill in the skill points, and then try the on-the-job interview to accumulate confidence and courage.

The sixth step is to successfully change jobs.

Six steps, very simple.

But it's very difficult to do.

A friend said, I have always wanted to go to a big factory, but I probably won’t be able to go there in my life...

The "desired company" I'm talking about here is not for you to dream, but for you to actually get in touch with, among all the companies around you, the one you like the most and the most promising one.

Then, start career planning according to the above five steps. It can be said that career planning is already the easiest step.

I didn't do this step, so don't change jobs, just stay in this small computer room.

Some people may ask, why do network workers have to have a career plan?

Suppose, a novice internet worker who just graduated from the second school started looking for a job.

He had a blank sheet of paper, not to mention any career planning. When he encountered a network management job with a salary of five to six thousand, he started in a daze.

I have been working for three years, and I am so busy every day, but I don’t know what I am busy with, what I have learned, and what growth I have gained. I know that my workload and salary are completely out of proportion, and I am depressed every day.

In the third year, the company fired this hard-working novice because of internal optimization.

Now he was confused, he didn't know what else he could do, and he felt that he could do anything, what could he do?

Career planning is not the first step to make you win at the starting line. Career is a long-distance race.

Its function is to allow you to "confirm" your "achievement" when you reach each node, clarify your next step rhythm, and serve as the motivation to grit your teeth and move forward again when you can't persist.

Now that you have planned it, start to act.

Take one step, put a √ on your plan, take another step, and put a √...

It may be slow, but it adds up, and seeing your progress every day, isn't it a very happy thing?

This is high-priced happiness at the lowest cost.

Of course, career planning inevitably involves technical improvement. This has been mentioned many times in my many articles, so I don’t want to expand on this article.

Without technology, you don't have any other ideas for a while.

If you think your skills are terrible, you can take a look at this technical training camp. In 3 days, you can understand all the technologies in this picture.

Friends who want to take classes, just send me a private message and send "Training Camp" . The first 10 private messages will get a training camp course worth 299 yuan for free.

Although more young people now tend not to plan, lie down and just look at the present.

I understand, I have had periods like this too.

After tossing and planning for a long time, the plan can't keep up with the changes, which makes me unhappy. I will definitely leave my job. I don't stay here, I have my own place to stay.

Personally, I am not opposed to job-hopping, and even to some extent I appreciate "planned job-hopping".

Many people change jobs because they are unhappy in one way or another. If this kind of unhappiness cannot be resolved in the current company, then most likely it will not be resolved in the next company.

You have to believe that 90% of the time, the company you work for is not that bad, and the company you think is good is not that good.

Everyone will encounter several bottlenecks in their career. If you get through it and others don't, you will be ahead, right?

Everything is always a little difficult at the beginning, but as long as you have the courage to take this step, it will be much better.

Doing is always easier than talking. If you work hard, you will gain something.
