[Daily Essay] Morality and Human Nature ① (The essence of human nature - survival and reproduction | Morality is not human nature | how it was generated)

1. The essence of human nature - survival and reproduction

There are only two essences of human nature. The instinct of individuals to pursue survival and reproduction is human nature, and all human nature must serve the two;

As long as it is for survival and reproduction, there is no good or evil; if a wolf kills a sheep for survival, it cannot be said that the wolf is evil;

It is human nature for women to love beauty, this is to obtain better chances of reproduction, ugly women have no value of reproduction;

Men show off their wealth, show off their luxury cars, and show off their famous watches, all in order to get better chances of reproduction;

In order to reproduce, women and men use plastic surgery, make-up, and show off their wealth to attract the opposite sex, similar to peacocks opening their tails, these are all means to obtain opportunities for reproduction;

2. Morality is not human nature

Some so-called morality is not human nature. Anyone who can name a moral term,

  • tolerant
  • grateful
  • loyalty
  • generous
  • love
  • humble

These have little to do with individual survival and reproduction, this is not human nature;

3. How Morality Comes into Being

Human beings are social animals, and when many people gather together, morality emerges, and morality is conducive to the prosperity of the group;

There is a certain causal relationship between the survival and reproduction of individuals and the prosperity of groups;

If everyone pursues the maximization of individual living space, they may do whatever they can, such as: snatching the same kind of food, killing the same kind; under this kind of law of the jungle, the population will decrease;

If the number of groups is too small to resist external enemies, individuals will also be killed by outsiders;

In the period of primitive society, norms, commonly known as conventions, were formed. This set of norms can be beneficial to the development and prosperity of groups, which is called "morality";

Shang Yang once asked the people to be timid in private fights and brave in public battles, to fight privately and be detained and jailed, and to kill people on the battlefield with heavy rewards;

If individuals are not restrained, they will definitely hurt each other, resulting in a decrease in the number of groups;

In the primitive society, almost every adult male killed someone, and the population could never increase. As long as one tribe forbids killing, this tribe will become strong and conquer all other tribes. This formed the first feudal country. In the feudal society, killing people had to bear the consequences, so that the population could continue to increase;

Fourth, the degree of compliance with ethics and laws - represents the competitiveness of individuals

"morality" is used to restrain individual "humanity" to achieve collective prosperity;

The degradation of morality is actually the law. If an individual does not take morality as the code of conduct, but takes the law as the code of conduct, then this person will have a great advantage in social competition;

Taking a step back, if a person wanders on the edge of the law and often enters and exits the gray and black areas of the law, then this person has a greater advantage;

Taking a step back, if a person takes a minor/moderate degree of violation as the code of conduct and can gain a greater advantage, such a person will definitely be punished by the law, but if the punishment will bring huge benefits, such a person deserves to be rich;

The methods of getting rich are all written in the criminal law, which has a certain basis;

5. Morality is anti-human

The essence of morality is anti-humanity,

Honoring parents, respecting the old and loving the young, these are anti-human,

  • There is no such thing as filial piety in Western countries, filial piety is a Confucian view, born in order to better maintain the rule;
  • As for respecting the old and loving the young, is it necessary for other people to respect the old? I just care about my own children. Other people’s children are competitors of my own. Loving other people’s children is definitely anti-human;

Human nature is selfish,

Morality needs to be guided and restrained, and the ruling class needs to subtly promote morality from the aspects of culture and values;

6. How the law came about

In order to better promote "morality", it is necessary to guide and restrict the behavior of individuals, and the way is to use force to restrict;

Every era has a bottom line of morality, even if you are a piece of garbage, you must abide by this bottom line, this is the "law";

Morality and Humanity :

  • The mother kills the child (human abortion) and hinders reproduction, so it can only be said to be inhumane, not immoral;
  • Buying tickets without queuing, immorality hinders the interests of the group, but it cannot be said to be inhumane, it is beneficial to human nature, saves time and money, and better survival;

Protecting group interests is morality, and protecting individual interests is human nature;
