"Soft Skills in Product Design - Start-up Companies" aims to help designers fully develop their design potential in start-up companies. The book is divided into 9 chapters, and each chapter discusses a topic about the product design work of startup companies. Readers can read the whole book or select chapters.
Chapters 1 to 3 describe what a startup is, the design thinking style a designer should have when working in a startup, and the framework needed to solve problems; Chapters 4 to 6 are about design ideas, especially how to get Design creativity, how to work with others to make the most of design creativity, and how to determine what to do to maximize the potential of design creativity; Chapters 7–9 present relevant considerations, heuristics, and methods for designing in the right design context and frame.
This book lists a large number of typical cases, some successful and some failed, which confirms the point I have always emphasized: concept is greater than skill, intangible is greater than tangible, and system is greater than individual. The way to create a better way of life for human beings in the future is not only to invent new technologies and new tools. "Innovation" should lie in making good use of new technologies, bringing changes in human "vision" and "dimension of ability", adjusting the way we observe the world, establishing new ideals, proposing new viewpoints, and constructing new theories.
I deeply sympathize with a series of points in this book. For example, a good product can simultaneously meet a series of competing goals in the design process: practicality, usability, feasibility, implementability and desirability; To be successful, consider whether the product is beneficial to society and the world as a whole; designers should understand people's difficulties, goals and values with humility and empathy, and then apply knowledge of human cognition, behavior and culture , bring real and positive impacts to people's lives... The presentation of these viewpoints will help Chinese product designers correct their understanding of design goals and values, and truly play the game function of "design" on technology and business. Realistically study China's national conditions and the potential needs of the Chinese people, and explore the path for the all-round development of Chinese society.
