[Daily Essay] Matthew Effect① (Some Phenomena in Society - Rich/Poor Good Students/Bad Students | Origin of Matthew Effect | The Way of Heaven and the Way of Man - Tao Te Ching )

1. Some phenomena in society - rich/poor good students/bad students

Rich and poor earn money differently:

  • The richer you are, the easier it is to make money; rich people have made money before and know the logic and methods of making money, as long as they continue to repeat this logic, they will get a lot of money;
  • The less money you have, the harder it is to earn money; people who have no money do not know the logic and methods of earning money, and they will never be able to earn the first pot of gold;

As long as the poor are willing to delve into it and acquire more knowledge, they will definitely earn the first pot of gold, and then copy this success;

Earning the first pot of gold is breaking the game;

Money always flows to those who are not short of money;

Good students and bad students have different learning difficulties:

  • Good students are liked by teachers, praised by parents, and respected by classmates. The more positive feedback you get, the more you love to learn. The more praise you get, the more confident you are. There is a positive cycle, and the wheels roll more and more excellent;
  • Bad students, hated by teachers, hated by parents, scolded and rejected every day, the more negative feedback they get, the more self-defeating, the worse the worse, the worse the self-esteem ;

Bad students have never experienced what praise, praise, and pursuit are; as long as they find a point and get one praise, they can gradually get rid of the Matthew effect;

Bad students have to put in more effort and mental pressure to study, and without feedback, getting the first excellent grade and first praise is the same as the poor getting the first pot of gold;

Getting the first excellent result is a break;

The strong get stronger and the weak get weaker, this is the Matthew effect;

2. The origin of the Matthew effect

Matthew effect: the better the good, the worse the bad, the more the more, the less the less;

The Matthew effect is applicable in many fields such as social psychology, education, finance and science;

The "Gospel of Matthew" fable in the "Bible New Testament": whoever has, more will be given to make him redundant; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away;

Take a look at this fable;

If you had money, would you put it in the hands of the poor, or the rich, of course the rich;

  • The poor will never get money and opportunities;

If you go to Taobao to buy something, will you buy a product with a sales volume of 100,000+, or a product with a single-digit sales volume;

  • Products with low sales are always the lowest;

3. The Way of Heaven and the Way of Man - Tao Te Ching

Tao Te Ching Chapter 77

Spring and Autumn Period·Lao Tzu

The way of heaven is like drawing a bow? (The law of nature, isn't it like shooting a bow and arrow?)

Those who are high suppress it, those who are low lift it; those who have excess damage it, and those who are insufficient make up for it. (If the string is pulled high, lower it, raise it higher if it is low, relax it if it is over-drawn, and replenish it if it is under-drawn.)

The way of heaven is to make up for what is lacking. ( The law of nature is to reduce the excess and supply the deficiency. )

The way of man is not so, the loss is not enough to give more than enough. ( However, the law of society is not like this. What is not enough should be reduced to give to those who have a surplus. )

Who can have more than enough to serve the world, only the Taoist. (Then, who can reduce the surplus to supplement the deficiency of the world? Only those who have the right way can do it. )

It is the sage who does not rely on it, does not rely on success, and does not want to see the virtuous and evil. (Therefore, a wise sage does something but does not possess it, and achieves something but does not take credit for it. He is unwilling to show his talents.)

The development of society is becoming more and more unbalanced, and the class division is getting bigger and bigger;

The law of society is that the more equal people are, the longer the regime lasts;

Emperors of all dynasties tried to suppress the powerful class in order to slow down the speed of class splitting, such as: Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty moved the powerful to Maoling, the imperial examination system in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Huang Chao wiped out the Guanlong gentry group at that time with five surnames and seven Wangs to reset the server, and the gentry in Yongzheng took errands to pay for food.

At present, it has been about sixty years since the last server reset, and a new class should be born;

A sage is one who is able to deplete what is surplus and make up for what is deficient;
