On the afternoon of June 30th, [ ACDU China Tour·Shenzhen Station ] came to a successful conclusion at Hui Hotel in Shenzhen. The event was hosted by the China Database Alliance (ACDU) and the Motianlun community. Focusing on the theme of "Revealing the Secrets and Applications of Frontier Database Technologies", seven leading figures in the database industry shared from the interpretation of new database features, innovation and application, and intelligent operation and maintenance. The gradual diversification of database applications, security and controllability have gradually become the trend, and the number and scale of business systems have increased rapidly, which has brought huge challenges to operation and maintenance personnel. When the crisis came, Xu Ji believed that the current trend of localization substitution brought some opportunities. In the future, the demand for database testing, migration, domestic database trainers and front-line domestic database engineers will greatly increase. In addition, he said that as a database practitioner, he should actively pay attention to technological development trends. During the meeting, he shared new technology development directions such as database SAAS service, knowledge base service based on knowledge graph, and large language model.

Greenplum Database Kernel Senior R&D Engineer Tang Tao shared his insights on the topic of "Greenplum Database 7's Secret Weapon for Performance Improvement". First, he introduced the main features of GPDB7, a PostgreSQL-based MPP architecture distributed database: a new resource management group for CPU, memory, disk I/O, support for cgroup v1/v2, JIT instant compilation technology, performance improvement, etc. Secondly, he also explained the principle and implementation of JIT to improve the performance of GPDB 7 to the participants in detail, such as compilation optimization, expression calculation, tuple decomposition and other basic ideas. Finally, he briefly introduced the use of JIT in GPDB 7. As a powerful and stable enterprise-level distributed database, Greenplum Database 7 has a more powerful "skeleton".

Jiang Chengyao , director of Tencent Technology and head of TDSQL kernel , said that MySQL's dominant position in the world is beyond doubt. Before the meeting, he shared with you the top 3 functions/features of MySQL 8.0 that can help most users improve efficiency, namely Doublewrite optimization, Doublewrite optimization, and support for parallel scanning. In addition, he also discussed a thought-provoking question with everyone: what kind of database is a good database product? He also had a heated exchange with everyone. Finally, Jiang Chengyao believes that as a good database product, it must meet the three principles of self-controllability, user orientation, and everyone's benefit.

In recent years, many "new stars" have emerged in China's database industry, and KunlunBase is one of them. Zhao Wei, founder of Zetuo Technology & KunlunBase, shared the theme of "Product Design Philosophy Based on PostgreSQL Kernel Enhancement and Extension". From the perspective of core features, KunlunBase has the characteristics of elastically scalable computing and storage capabilities, financial-level high reliability, and HTAP. Zhao Wei said that KunlunBase has been continuously improving performance, scalability, and efficiency, enabling professional division of labor, extensive connections, and continuously improving the work efficiency of database practitioners.

In addition, the Yashan Database System ( YashanDB ) , a new database management system independently designed and developed by Shenzhen Institute of Computing Science, is developing rapidly and has attracted the attention of many practitioners. At the conference site, Wang Haifeng, the technical director of YashanDB, shared the theme of "Design and Practice of the Fully Self-developed Database System of Deep Computing Institute", leading everyone to reveal the past and present of YashanDB. In 2013, YashanDB had a good theoretical foundation, and later incorporated the original theory by the Shenzhen Institute of Computing Science to create a fully self-developed product. Wang Haifeng believes that full self-development can bring three major benefits: clearly explain the story behind each line of code, and the code of basic software self-developed is highly flexible and self-controllable. At the end of the sharing, he also introduced that YashanDB will move towards autonomy and multi-mode in the future.

On April 30, openGauss version 5.0.0 was officially launched. As the third LTS version released by openGauss, Xiong Xiaojun, a Huawei senior R&D engineer and openGauss database kernel committer, led the participants to find out. Starting from the openGauss resource pooling architecture, he showed that openGauss separates storage and computing, and multiple nodes share one data, eliminating log replication overhead, which can reduce storage costs by more than 50%. "Because of memory pooling, openGauss can support data consistency-sensitive application loads to transparently expand from a single node to multiple nodes, which is high availability," Xiong Xiaojun said. Then he explained in detail two of the four high features of openGauss (high performance, high availability, high security, and high intelligence): high availability and high intelligence. Elder Yang, who is known as Oracle's "Encyclopedia", started from theory and combined with practice, so that everyone felt the significance of the new features of Oracle 23c. At the beginning of the speech, Yang Tingkun succinctly pointed out that the primary keyword of Oracle 23c is "simplified application". Then, he gave a detailed explanation of JSON Relational Duality, the most valuable core feature of 23c. In real applications, the results displayed on the page will correspond to a JSON object. Although it is most convenient for development to store this JSON object directly in the database, it will bring a lot of data redundancy problems. In order to solve this problem, traditional relational databases are processed through primary and foreign key relationships, which avoids data redundancy to the greatest extent. Although this can make the database more flexible, it is not friendly enough for development. However, Oracle 23c's JSON Relational Duality can process data in two ways at the same time—it can be processed by the traditional relational primary-foreign key relationship, and it can also be processed by the JSON unified interface.
