I am a male, born in 1979, 42 years old this year, a programmer.
Let me tell you about my experience.
The work I used to do had nothing to do with programmers. When I first started working, I was working in a small company and doing sales.
After working for about five years, because of my personality, EQ and other reasons, I found that I was not suitable for sales, so I resigned decisively. At that time, it was boring to be unemployed at home. I heard that the salary of programmers was quite high, so I also wanted to be a programmer.
However, if you want to be a programmer, you must be able to program. I have never learned it. I am a layman in hardware and software, and I have no way to get into the industry.
Later, I found a new job. In a logistics company, I was in charge of marketing. I met a few programmers in this company and learned a little bit of programming from them. After comprehensive consideration, I chose python, because python is more suitable for newcomers. Friendly, and the grammar is very simple. Later, I bought books and newspapers and studied for two years, and I can make more decent web pages by myself.
So I took my work and went to the interview.
interview hit a wall
When I first started looking for a job as a programmer, the interviews were not smooth. With my little skills, even better companies didn’t want me, and they thought I was too old. I was already 33 years old at that time.
I was also a little discouraged at the time, thinking that I should just forget it, I am already middle-aged, so I should have less fantasy and more reality.
Unexpectedly, my five-year-old son "saved" me. He showed interest in programming at a young age and understood it very quickly.
It just so happened that I knew a little bit, so I continued to learn while teaching him.
My son learns very quickly, and my knowledge is quickly bottomed out, so I am forced to keep learning new knowledge to teach him.
After another year, my programming level has improved. With the encouragement of my son, I mustered up the courage to interview again!
What should python learn?

dream come true
At the age of 34, I finally applied for a job in a very small Internet company, with a total of 11 people including the boss.
The boss is also a middle-aged man, just two years older than me. Maybe he was moved by my experience, and let me come to work when my ability is not very perfect.
Later, I personally worked harder. When I thought of this job, which was more than twice as high as my previous salary (5,000 became 12,000), I was very motivated to continue studying and work overtime.
A few years later, relying on my work as a programmer, I also improved my family's life.
What I want to say now is: If you really want to do something, then do it, no matter how old you are, try it first.
Some people may say, is it too late to change careers at the age of 30?
In my experience, 30 is pretty late, but that doesn't mean you're hopeless.
Sooner or later, people will grow from thirty to forty years old, but if you start changing careers at thirty, you may have ten years of relevant experience by the time you are forty.
If you don't improve yourself, you will still come to forty, but you will be greeted by a forty who has accomplished nothing.
