foreword
Private cloud and public cloud are two different types of cloud services in the field of cloud computing. Today I will tell you what private cloud and public cloud are? What's the difference?
1. What are private cloud and public cloud?
1. What is a private cloud?
A private cloud refers to cloud computing over which an enterprise has complete control , and is built for one customer's sole use , thus providing the most effective control over data, security, and quality of service . For example, access to storage resources in cloud storage can be completely controlled by the enterprise, not any cloud computing service provider. Another concept of private cloud is that cloud computing providers provide strong isolation, and user-built clusters and data centers are regarded as an independent and isolated subset of cloud services, becoming a user-private sub-cloud.
2. What is a public cloud?
Public cloud is a service that provides computing resources to the public . Resources, such as applications and storage, are provided by the IDC service provider or a third party, and these resources are deployed in the service provider's premises. Users obtain the use of these resources through the Internet. For example, Alibaba Cloud and Tencent Cloud in China are working on public clouds.
Two, give an example
1. Private cloud
For example, a company builds a data center by itself , deploys its internal business systems in this data center, and provides internal IT services with cloud technology , which is a private cloud.
2. Public cloud
Alibaba Cloud provides cloud hosts and provides services to all users , which is an example of a public cloud.
3. Advantages and disadvantages of private cloud and public cloud
1. Private cloud
Advantages of Private Cloud
①Security: Provides greater security because a single company is the only designated entity that can access it.
②Autonomous and controllable: The private cloud is built for the sole use of one customer, and only belongs to one user, with full control.
Disadvantages of private cloud
①High cost: Establishing a private cloud may include upfront costs, usage fees, and maintenance and management resources. Therefore, the cost is relatively high
② Difficulty in remote access: The high security of the private cloud may make it difficult to access from remote locations.
2. Public cloud
Advantages of public cloud
① Low cost: In addition to providing services through the network, customers only need to pay for electricity for the resources they use.
②Convenience: Since customers can access the service provider's cloud computing infrastructure, they don't need to worry about their own installation and maintenance.
③Easy to expand: It provides almost unlimited space for storing and managing data.
Disadvantages of public cloud
①Security concerns: It is always better to put data in someone else's home than to put it in your own home, and the recent public cloud data leakage times have cast a shadow over public cloud security.
②Performance oversold problem: Public cloud is for tenants, and most of them have performance oversold problems, resulting in tenants' performance not meeting purchase needs.
4. What is the difference between private cloud and public cloud?
1. Ownership and Management
Private clouds are built and managed by enterprises or organizations themselves , while public clouds are provided and managed by cloud service providers .
2. Security
A private cloud can provide greater data security and privacy protection because a business or organization has full control and management of its own data. The public cloud needs to consider data security and privacy protection issues.
3. Cost
The cost of a private cloud is higher , because the enterprise or organization needs to build and manage itself, and needs to purchase and maintain hardware and software. The cost of public cloud is relatively low , because enterprises or organizations can save their own construction costs by renting cloud computing resources.
4. Elasticity and flexibility
Public cloud can provide better elasticity and flexibility , because enterprises or organizations can expand or shrink cloud computing resources at any time according to needs. However, private clouds require enterprises or organizations to plan and deploy themselves, which is not flexible enough.
5. Demand
Private cloud is suitable for enterprises or organizations that have high requirements for data security and privacy protection . The public cloud is suitable for enterprises or organizations that require services such as elastic computing, low cost, high availability, and easy expansion .
