Meet New Bing
New Bing is a new generation of search engine developed by Microsoft based on OpenAI ChatGPT technology . After the release of the original GPT-3.5 model to the GPT-4 model, New Bing also upgraded the bottom model to the GPT-4 model for the first time.
To put it simply, New Bing makes up for the timeliness of ChatGPT on the one hand. Compared with ChatGPT, New Bing can search for information online in real time, and generate a reply after understanding the semantics of the search content. At the same time, it will quote its reference source and display the link of the reference web page, making the answer more comprehensive and credible.
On the other hand, New Bing also makes up for the poor comprehension ability of traditional search engines and lack of summary and creativity. It can become an extension of search engines to a certain extent, but it is not yet able to replace search engines.

1. Download Microsoft Edge browser
Since the New Bing function is integrated in the Edge browser and cannot be accessed using browsers such as Chrome, the first step is to download the latest version of the Microsoft Edge browser. Currently New Bing has been officially released, you can directly download the official version without downloading the Edge Dev version.

2. Sign up and log in with your Microsoft account
Open the Edge browser, enter the Bing official website www.bing.com or click the "b" icon in the upper right corner of the sidebar to enter the New Bing chat page. For the first visit, you need to register and log in with your Microsoft account:

First of all, open the Edge browser, click the button of the villain in the upper right corner, and log in with the Microsoft Outlook email account (if you don’t have one, you must register one)

Under normal circumstances, since the browser will detect that our IP address is in China, it will automatically jump to http://cn.bing.com , so we cannot apply.

Due to well-known reasons, direct access to New Bing will be redirected to the domestic version of Bing, so you must first open the scientific Internet environment . If that doesn't work, try:
- 1. Check whether the area in the settings is set to the learning area, I will step on the pit here;
- 2. Find "Manage and delete cookies and site data > View all cookies and site data" in the settings, search for bing.com, and delete all cookies.

3. How to use New Bing online without science?
During the period when New Bing was first launched, many non-scientific ways to use New Bing were popular on the Internet. However, as New Bing's regulatory compliance becomes more and more stringent, most methods of pro-testing have become invalid:
- Method 1 - Use the Edge Dev version (invalid): It may be that the supervision is not so strict on the inner preview version. The original version of the Dev version browser can enter New Bing without scientific Internet access;
- Method 2 - Modify the region (invalid): directly modify the region to the learning region, but it will still be forced to switch back to the region where the IP is located after modification;
- Method 3 - Redirect plug-in (ineffective): For example, use plug-ins such as ModHeader and configure the X-Forword-For request header to redirect to the DNS service in the learning area;
- Method 4 - modify the Host (invalid): modify the IP address of bing.com in the Host (untested);

4. Join the WaitList waiting list
After logging in to the Microsoft account, you will be asked to apply to join the waiting list. It may be because of the opening of the scientific Internet environment. After I applied, I passed it immediately:

5. Use New Bing!
Directly visit the homepage of www.bing.com or click the "b" icon in the sidebar to access. We will post a summary of more usage skills later.
6. Use Skype to access New Bing for free!
Skype is an instant messaging office software owned by Microsoft. After the launch of New Bing, it also integrates the New Bing chat function. Just like a colleague in the office software, we can directly chat with New Bing.
The several science-free Internet access methods mentioned above have been blocked by the official website of bing.com. It can be said that Skype is the last remaining "stealth" method, and the possibility of being restricted in the future is very high.
Skype has a desktop version and a web version, we directly visit web.skype.com to enter the web version.
Since we have already logged in to the Microsoft account before, it will be automatically logged in here. When you visit for the first time, you will be asked to set up some personal information, just skip it. We then open the Bing chat session page via the left sidebar.
However, we found that neither the "b" sidebar on the right nor Skype can chat with New Bing normally when Science Internet is not turned on:

Of course, scientific Internet access is still the easiest and most stable way, and the Skype method can be used as a backup solution.
Another point is that if your account has not applied to join the New Bing candidate list and passed, I guess it cannot be used on Skype, so you should pay attention to this.
7. Use New Bing in the Chrome browser!
As mentioned earlier, New Bing must use the Microsoft Edge browser to use, and the New Bing AI entrance will not appear when visiting bing.com in the Chrome browser.
Even if we copy the URL of the New Bing AI chat into the Chrome browser and open it, we will also receive a prompt from Microsoft:

I'm curious about its implementation principle, guessing that it modifies the browser identifier in the request header, and it does. When the plug-in is not enabled, there is no Edge browser and version information in the user-agent request header field:

8. Summary
New Bing makes up for the timeliness problem of ChatGPT, which is indeed a great breakthrough compared to traditional search engines. But because of this, the accuracy of New Bing largely depends on the accuracy of search recall results. If the recalled data is inaccurate, the answers returned after ChatGPT processing must be inaccurate.
