After joining Byte for one year, I was laid off. What did I think about?

foreword

The New Year of 2023 is the first New Year after graduation. Although it is only one year older than the Chinese New Year in 2022, the identity has changed from a student to a graduated worker.

The new year has passed, and it turned out that on the first day of Byte, the notice was laid off, and the compensation of N + 1 + 2 was taken. I also thought about it within this year, but I didn't expect it to happen to me.

The most important reason, I think, may be the eighth reason of the entire internal environment. I am doing Android development myself.

Poor environment means great competition and high requirements, and companies will be very cautious in recruiting. There are so many excellent people, the past has passed. Let me talk about my recent interview situation.

interview

After being laid off in mid-February this year, I was in an emo state. I had no energy to do anything. I just locked myself in the house all day, watched dramas, played games, and ordered takeaway when I was hungry. Simple The best way to get dopamine and endorphins to meet the basic needs of the day.

Looking back now, if I had driven from Shanghai to Xinjiang-Tibet by myself at that time, I would have felt much more comfortable, or I would have driven Didi for a month, and realized that I was laid off early and re-employed. This was the most leisure time I had, and I didn’t go there Some of the things I did were a bit regrettable. I hope it can be added later, hahahaha

In late February, I simply applied for resumes. For example, I applied for Changsha Tencent Cloud. I wanted to go back to my hometown to see opportunities. I also received an interview invitation, but because I was not mentally prepared, I rejected the interview.

In February and March, I looked at the opportunity and submitted my resume. Unfortunately, Android has two meters of graves on all major platforms, and there are many people who can't find it.

Unfortunately, Android is currently such a status quo. On the recruitment software, it is basically impossible to read, say hello, and do not respond

That's how I look at Android. Let me talk about the conclusion first. I personally oppose the Android market. The reasons are as follows:

Technology goes overseas

In recent years, the technology products of major manufacturers have been going overseas, looking for stones and asking for directions. Douyin and Pinduoduo have done a good job. They no longer limit the domestic demographic dividend and seek more room for development. In the same way, can we also look for technology to go overseas when we do technology? My answer is yes. There are many foreign project platforms, such as Upwork. On this platform, we can see opportunities in various countries. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know English. Use translation software, resume packaging, etc. to seek more opportunities for cooperation. Don’t limit yourself!

core competitiveness

As a technical person, the key is to create your own core competitiveness, what is core competitiveness, that is, what makes you different from others, what others can do, you can do. What others can't do, you can also do, which is naturally the best, which is the same for all companies. In essence, it is to spend the smallest price to choose more suitable people. To give a simple example, let’s take the above JD (Job Describe) as an example. We won’t talk about the basics, but focus on several indicators: education, work experience, C-end business experience, and bonus items. Through these conditions, a group of people can be screened out. If you go deeper into the bonus items, you will have a great advantage

Demographic Dividend

There is a characteristic in our country. Whichever industry makes money and which industry is popular, a lot of people will come in (training institutions advertise everywhere). The demographic advantage exists, which is a major advantage and a major disadvantage. Not to mention the advantages. Weakness is what will lead to a surprising involution in this industry. Take the Internet industry as an example. A few years ago, a lot of people wanted simple Java, some business knowledge, and a college degree or above. Now, you have to understand the source code, you have to recruit a full-time degree or above, and you have to have multiple skills. Excellent, more opportunities, you can pay attention to the opportunities of foreign companies

Technology Development Trend

As a technician, we must pay attention to the development trend of cutting-edge technology. Why should we pay attention? Simply put, it's about your living space. In recent years, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and metaverse have developed rapidly. If you can't keep up with the times, you will be eliminated soon. It's a simple reason. For example, if you look at major recruitment software, various Framework positions have high salaries.

Besides, in February and March, there are no interview opportunities and suitable positions in the basic market. Relying on referrals from friends, I interviewed a few companies, and after the technical interview went to the HR interview, there was no news. The interview is purely fate

How difficult is the interview?

  • I visited Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Wuhan, and personally feel that Hangzhou is the biggest. It's not difficult, but if you don't answer well enough, you may fail
  • A friend from Shenzhen met a company in Hangzhou and felt the same as me. Hangzhou is more difficult.
  • Many small factories have also begun to roll the algorithm

Pit situation

  • Judging from headhunting feedback, there are very few pits, and none of them are priced
  • A former colleague joined a small factory, and the leader learned that there were many layoffs in a large factory in Hangzhou, so he directly said in a meeting that he should pay attention to the recruiters
  • The environment is not good, many people can bear it as long as they can, and there are fewer job-hopping, so there are naturally fewer pits
  • There are still a lot of HCs, you need to be cautious when taking offers, and go after you figure out the situation, many pitfalls are really pitfalls. (I ran away from a small factory, and my friend ran away from 2 large factories)

future

I am still young, and at the same time, I also persuade those comrades who are no longer young. Years of Android experience have made you no longer have the opportunity to switch to other industries from scratch. If you want to continue to cultivate, you can only try your best to improve yourself and master the core competition. Power, continue to pay attention to cutting-edge technology.

At present, Android can go in two major directions, big front-end and system development.

I hope that the future of Android will still be a group of people who love technology.

Finally, I will share a copy of the Android Framework source code learning manual and route that I brought out from my Shangdong, which is ByteDance. This is also a private secret that I am learning now.

The entire manual mainly covers: system startup process analysis, cross-process communication IPC, Handler, AMS, WMS, SurfaceFace, SurfaceFlinger, PKMS and other 10 chapters, a total of 442 pages, and at the end of the chapters there are related hot interview questions.
