【Potplayer】How to use Potplayer to achieve partial zoom playback of videos? How to play vertical screen video more comfortably with potplayer?

1. Problem background

Sometimes we download a vertical screen video from the Internet. When playing it on a computer, the left and right sides are black, and the height and width of the computer screen are not well utilized. And if it happens that only a small part of the vertical screen video is the effective area/key content, such as the central area, the upper and lower areas are some prompt information/advertising information/invalid information.

At this time, we hope to zoom in on the video screen so that the central area fills up the entire computer screen (of course it can also be other local areas), hoping to get a good viewing experience.

Two, the solution

2.1 Mouse manipulation method (recommended, more flexible)

We can use the shortcut key F5 or the right-click menu to enter the option interface.

Basic - Mouse - Check [Use Alt, Ctrl, Shift keys to adjust frame position with mouse selection] - OK.

With that set up, let's get back to the video.

The first operation (not recommended), hold down the ctrl key and slide with the left mouse button. As shown in the figure below, we can see that the blue frame appears when Ctrl+left button slides. Then slide the left button to the lower right to zoom in on the screen (the other four directions, upper right, upper left, and lower left, are reset screens).

You can view the content of the operation you just made from the upper left corner, as shown in the figure below, because what I did in the figure above is ctrl + left button to slide down and right, so it is to increase the size.

The second operation is shift+swipe left. A red frame appears. The drawn red frame is from the starting point to the end point. If it is right and down, it will increase the size, and if it is left and up, it will decrease the size. Just now, the vector direction of the starting point and the ending point will cause the difference in the increase and decrease, and the coordinate difference in the width and height direction of the vector of the starting point and the ending point will cause the difference in the increase and decrease magnitude.

The above is a precise explanation of the mathematical version. If it is more popular, considering that some people don’t know vector vectors—that is, if you slide right and down, you will zoom in on the screen, and if you slide left and up, you will zoom out. And the larger the sliding range is, the more significant the zoom-in and zoom-out ratio is.

We can find that both the first and second operations are used to zoom the screen, but I actually recommend the second one because it is more intuitive and you can check the zoom effect while operating.

The third operation is alt+swipe left, and a yellow frame is displayed. This is more intuitive, where the mouse slides, the screen will run there!

2.2 Right-click menu

The setting in this section does not mean that you really need to use the right-click menu to zoom and move bit by bit, but to let you be familiar with the relevant [single shortcut key] and the software function logic of using the mouse to assist in the operation in Chapter 2.1 .

The operation realized by the above ctrl+left button or shift+left button is actually adjusting the width and height of the video frame.

The operation realized by alt+left button is to adjust the position of the video frame.

2.3 Numeric shortcut keys

As shown in the figure above, 2 4 8 6 corresponds to the numeric shortcut keys for zooming in and out of height and width, while 1 and 9 represent equal zoom in and out.

And if you want to adjust the position, you need to use the ctrl key.

Hold down the ctrl key, and then press the number keys 2 4 8 6 to move down, left, up, and right respectively. And 5 is to restore the original position or return to the last preset position.
