Unknowingly, the summer of open source has accompanied us through three springs and autumns. As an annual event to promote open source technology and ecological development, Open Source Summer has become a gathering place for global open source communities and technology enthusiasts.
This year, the Summer of Open Source 2023 activity has attracted the active participation of many excellent open source communities at home and abroad, and finally a total of 133 open source communities have been successfully launched. They come from many popular fields such as operating system, compiler, artificial intelligence, big data, database, cloud native, RISC-V and so on.
This summer, they will join hands with Open Source Summer to light up the open source journey, jointly discover and train outstanding developers, help build the open source software supply chain, and promote the prosperity and development of the open source ecosystem.

From April 4th, the online community can submit projects in the system, and the projects that pass the review will be released on the official website one after another. Be sure to read the Community Guidelines carefully before releasing your project officially .
Project Submission Period: April 4th to April 26th, 2023
Number of projects launched:
Before the project is released, the organizing committee will determine the number of projects that the organizing committee can support (indicated by X) based on factors such as community registration and previous participation, and inform the community;
In the project release stage, the community submits projects in the system according to their own needs. The number of projects is not limited , and the approved projects will be launched on the official website one after another;
Project application - the community review stage, the community discusses to determine the approved project, and the quality of the project application is the most important criterion for evaluating whether the student application is passed . If the number of projects approved by the community is less than or equal to X, all projects are projects supported by the organizing committee; The committee signed a community cooperation agreement. The completion bonus for projects supported by the organizing committee will be provided by the organizing committee, and the completion bonus for projects supported by the community will be provided by the community.

The activity gives priority to supporting development projects, while taking into account various projects that are beneficial to community development;
It is recommended to participate in projects that have been open source and have been open for half a year or more;
This year, we will focus on supporting projects related to RISC-V and basic software.
Difficulty and Bonuses:

# Designate a mentor
The community appoints a mentor for each project, and each mentor can guide at most one project;
The community needs to select a tutor account when publishing a project in the system. If the system does not contain tutor information, it is necessary to add the tutor account information;
Event participants can only register as tutors or students, otherwise the completion bonus will be cancelled.
# Community introduction video collection
Successfully launched communities can record community introduction videos and submit them to the organizing committee. The organizing committee will regularly publish community introduction videos on the official website of Open Source Summer, WeChat official account, video account, and Bilibili account to help students understand the community better and faster.
Video length: within 20 minutes is recommended
Video content: It can include community background, development direction, achievement display, future planning, etc.; the video can use the open source summer community presentation PPT template to make an introduction presentation file; the title should be limited to 17 characters; and please provide a 1920x1080 size community Frames are used to make video covers.
Submission method: Send by email or contact the WeChat account of the Open Source Assistant to contribute. When submitting an email, please use "Summer of Open Source-Community Name-Video" as the subject of the email.
