Which board has the best development after STM32?

I have been engaged in development for 10 years, let me talk about my personal opinion.

First of all, unless it is a top-notch monopoly technology, there will generally not be a standing chip.

From the perspective of a R&D manager, the following factors are mainly considered when selecting a single-chip microcomputer:

1. Stability

2. Price

3. Delivery cycle

4. R&D cycle

5. Whether it meets the product requirements

……

1. Stability

Needless to say, the single-chip microcomputer is like a "brain". If there is a problem with the brain, will the product be normal?

So stability must be at the top of the list. I have used STM32 for 6 or 7 years.

As an engineer, I personally like STM32 very much, better than all the microcontrollers I have used, and my evaluation of it is as stable as a dog.

2. Price

Before the price increase of STM32, the cost performance is very high, the price is not expensive, the data is rich, the development cycle is shortened, and the stability is good.

However, the price of STM32 has also risen too sharply in the past two years, and the increase has exceeded the product profit itself. The boss almost cried and fainted in the toilet.

The model in the picture above, in my impression, was only 8 or 9 yuan a few years ago.

Therefore, many companies have to replace domestic single-chip microcomputers to prevent customer loss.

If it continues to rise like this and the price remains high, it is estimated that the utilization rate of STM32 in the Chinese market will drop greatly, no matter how brilliant it was!

You said it is unstable, as an engineer, I think it is very stable, it is very comfortable to use, and there will be no strange problems.

But it is useless for us to use it coolly. Enterprises need to save costs to increase profits.

3. Delivery cycle

If the company's product volume is not large, and the volume is less than 10K a month, there is basically no need to consider this issue.

However, if the quantity is large, we have to consider it, because we heard from our former boss that the chip manufacturers have planned every year, and they will not be able to produce for you as soon as they are sold out.

4. R&D cycle

R&D cycle generally refers to the time it takes for a product to go from zero to mass production.

If the information is rich, it will save a lot of time in the development process, and basically do not need to rely on the technical support of the original chip factory or agents.

Besides, if your product usage is not large, the manufacturer's agent will ignore you at all.

Unless you are a big factory, the agent would like to send a FAE stationed in a small hotel next to your company, urging you every day, the sooner you batch the products, the sooner he will make a fortune .

I have experienced the despair of finding a solution to a product problem, and being forced by the boss to have a dull pain in the top of my head.

Some unpopular chips, but no one asked, and no information can be found on the Internet, this is very depressing.

I have used one before. The original chip factory did not provide a debugging environment, and I don’t know if it supports it. The leader asked me to use the ready-made debugging environment on the market to adapt to their chips, so that the development would be more efficient.

I have been working on this problem for a month and haven't figured it out. The original factory has no technical support, and we don't even know whether the chip supports debugging.

It's nonsense to think about it. Let us do things that the original factory can't handle.

Leaders don't listen to your complaints. In their eyes, complaining is just making excuses for your lack of ability.

Therefore, engineers are often dumb and unable to tell if they suffer from eating Coptis chinensis .

In the absence of technical support, we certainly hope to use the single-chip microcomputer with the most abundant information on the market as our last guarantee against being hanged. This is none other than STM32.

Five, whether to meet the needs

The actual product development is different from the development board. The ideal for actual development is to find a single-chip microcomputer with just enough resources, which is the most cost-effective.

Six, misunderstanding

The better the performance of the single-chip microcomputer, the more promising it is. I think that the more optimized the above points are, the more popular it is .

After all, not every company manufactures missiles, many of them manufacture "screws". The simpler the product, the lower it looks from the technical point of view, the larger the volume.

Last egg time! ! !

Recently, many friends asked me for some MCU learning materials, and then based on my ten years of experience in the industry, I stayed up all night and carefully compiled a "MCU Introduction to Advanced Tutorial + Toolkit", all free to share with everyone! ! !

In addition, I will share with tears my 22 popular open source projects at the bottom of the box, including source code + schematic diagram + PCB + documentation, so that you can quickly advance to become a master!

It is said that a small partner successfully entered the BAT factory by relying on this information, so you must study hard if you save it.

The tutorial package and detailed learning path can be found at the beginning of my article below.
