Scientific Data Center Recruitment Notice

The Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences focuses on the major strategic needs of my country's agriculture and population health and the frontiers of life sciences, focusing on genome structure and regulation, molecular genetics analysis of important agronomic traits and molecular design breeding, individual development and cell differentiation Research on molecular mechanism, sustainable development of agricultural ecology and cutting-edge interdisciplinary fields. After more than 60 years of development, it has become an innovative research institute integrating "scientific research-technology development-results output".

The Scientific Data Center of the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences is committed to the construction of data resource systems and data sharing services in the field of animal and plant genetic development, and performs data analysis of animal and plant genome sequencing, comparative genomes, pan-genomes, gene function network knowledge bases and knowledge Atlas, develop software applications such as data query, user-friendly interface, and mining tools. At present, rice breeding is entering the era of precise genome design. It is necessary to organize, integrate, analyze and mine the molecular elements that control important traits, and build an accurate genome design model on this basis.

One bioinformatics R&D engineer (including assistant engineer or senior engineer) is now open for recruitment , responsible for the construction and development of the "Encyclopedia of Molecular Components for Rice Breeding" .

The center has accumulated a wealth of plant genome data resources, equipped with sufficient high-performance computing storage devices and a comfortable working environment. Aspiring young people who are interested in big data analysis of plant genomes are welcome to join.

Liang Chengzhi , director of the Scientific Data Center, researcher, doctoral supervisor. He graduated from Wuhan University with a bachelor's degree in genetics in 1989, a doctorate in genetics from the Institute of Genetics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1995, and a master's degree in mathematics and computer science from the University of Waterloo, Canada in 2001. From 2001 to 2012, he successively worked in bioinformatics research and development at Bioinformatics Solutions Inc in Canada, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York, USA, and International Rice Institute in the Philippines. Since February 2012, he has served as a researcher at the Institute of Genetics and Development, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and was selected into the "Introduction of Outstanding Technical Talents" plan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is currently the director of the Scientific Data Center of the Institute.

The main research areas

1. Genome assembly and pan-genome construction. Combining the latest single-molecule sequencing technology, BioNano single-molecule mapping, Hi-C sequencing, etc., complete the assembly of high-quality genomes, or further construct pan-genomes. A large number of genome assemblies of rice, wheat, soybean, tartary buckwheat, snapdragon, sorghum, tomato, etc. have been completed, and high-quality pan-genomes of two species of soybean and rice have been constructed.

2. Comparative genomic and population genomic analysis. The comparative genome analysis of multiple species such as rice, wheat, tartary buckwheat, and snapdragon was carried out, and the related genome basis of some key features in the evolution of each species was found, such as the gene loss caused by the rapid mutation of the wheat genome, tartary buckwheat and Enhancing environmental adaptation or evolution of key traits following whole-genome duplication of the snapdragon. Through the large-scale population genome analysis and GWAS of the main rice varieties in China, we found the introgression and utilization characteristics of some favorable alleles in different populations in current rice breeding.

3. Bioinformatics software and database development. In terms of genome assembly, HERA, a software for assembling complex regions of the genome based on single-molecule long-fragment sequencing, has been developed. Based on the existing software, the quality of genome assembly has been greatly improved, and the efficiency of isolating highly heterozygous diploid genomes has also been improved. ability. The Gramene-pipeline has been improved in terms of gene annotation. In terms of database construction, a knowledge base MBKbase (www.mbkbase.org) including multiple reference genomes, genome annotations and population genetic polymorphism information, which is applied to functional genomics research and molecular breeding, was constructed. For each species, the pan-genome will be an important component of this database.
