I remember a buddy who was doing android development. He looked for a job again last year. It was a good job. Their project development director was really far-sighted. That guy has been with him for two years to speculate on houses and buy stocks. Now he is about to buy a car. I am very different. The last time he drank, he told me that it was thanks to his current boss.

Many years ago, when interviewing for a software engineer position in a company, the interviewer finally asked me: Do you like working with smart people? For example, someone smarter than you.

After getting a positive answer, the interviewer continued to ask: why? Wouldn't it be easier for you to stand out if everyone around you wasn't as smart as you? At that time, I replied: Suppose you were admitted to Tsinghua University, presumably you are not willing to go to Shandong Lanxiang to study! The interviewer smiled.

I keep answering, working with smart people, I can learn more knowledge, and also learn more working methods and experiences. At the same time, we learn from each other and improve ourselves together. With smart people, I am more productive and create more value for the company.

Why work with smart people? I think it can be viewed from the following angles.

From the perspective of personal improvement, smart people have strong learning ability, and smart people can form a mutually reinforcing atmosphere together, which is very beneficial to everyone's progress. Work with smart people and grow faster, especially newbies. Work with smart people, and smart people's work style, communication style, and management style will become a role model for new people. Smart people are generally happy to share, and if newcomers are also smart, they will avoid many detours.

Smart people are generally not bad. If the newcomer is smart, the veteran can also worry. Many things can be taught once or twice, and mutual things don't have to be repeated.

Smart people are confident, capable, and have a broader vision. Smart people work together, learn from each other, and there is more room for mutual improvement.

Smart people pay more attention to personal branding.

Good communication skills, speaking and writing e-mails are concise and to the point, highlighting key points. Smart people are good at time management and promises will be done on time.

There are more smart people, and there will be an environment of trust. Workwear atmosphere is more relaxed. If people trust each other before, the communication cost will be reduced a lot. The atmosphere is more relaxed, the communication cost is lower, and of course more time is spent on creating value. Just imagine, in a depressing environment, everyone does not trust, everyone is racking their brains to cope with all kinds of communication, how much energy can they put on creating value.

On top of that, smart people tend to look higher and focus more on the big picture. In scene B, Zhang San and Li Si are more like a hostile relationship. Zhang San suspects that Li Si has falsely reported expenses, and Li Si is also very dissatisfied with Zhang San. When he asked for the meeting, Zhang San didn't mention what Li Si needed to prepare. At that time...the meeting might be in a rush again.

Going back to the question at the beginning of the article: Wouldn’t it be easier for you to stand out if everyone around you wasn’t as smart as you? If the environment and system are not perfect, you have the opportunity to improve it, isn't it better?
