At the OS Industry Summit 2021 conference, Huawei officially announced that it will officially donate the Euler open source operating system (openEuler, Euler) to the Open Atom Open Source Foundation. Huawei's "circle of friends" is really getting bigger and bigger. Of course, when I donated the basic source code of the Hongmeng operating system from Huawei, I knew that Huawei wanted more than that.
We all know that Euler is an open source operating system for digital infrastructure, which can be widely deployed in various forms of equipment such as servers, cloud computing, edge computing, and embedded. The application scenarios cover IT (Information Technology), CT (Communication Technology), and OT (Operational Technology), realizing a unified operating system to support multiple devices, and one application development covering all scenarios.
In September 2021, Huawei will upgrade Euler from a server operating system to a digital infrastructure operating system, supporting all scenarios of digital infrastructure such as IT, CT, and OT, covering server, cloud computing, edge computing, embedded various forms of equipment.
Moreover, Euler's commercial business has exceeded 600,000 sets, and it is expected to achieve the first market share in China's server field next year.
At this juncture, Huawei promised to donate Euler, and Huawei will continue to invest in and promote Euler's development from five aspects: technological innovation, ecological construction, commercial promotion, open source construction, and talent development. What Huawei really wants is to bring together more industrial forces to build a stronger digital infrastructure at a faster pace.
Huawei also announced the launch of the "Euler Talent Development Acceleration Program", focusing on the direction of the operating system, from the first batch of 72 colleges and universities that have landed on the smart base to the application undergraduate program, aiming to encourage more college teachers and students to join the Euler ecosystem. The accelerated program will cover 500 colleges and universities within three years and cultivate millions of Euler talents.

Huawei will build two operating systems in the future, one is the Hongmeng operating system and the other is the Euler operating system, both of which are open source. There is a "soul casting project" within Huawei, which is to create an operating system covering all scenarios through Euler and Hongmeng, and all of them are open source, so that the industry can participate, make them better, and adapt to more scenarios.

At the OS Industry Summit 2021, China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, China Southern Power Grid, Baidu Smart Cloud, JD Cloud, Sina, Kirin Principal, Topway Information, Dongfangtong, Thundersoft, Feiteng, etc. It is said that the Euler open source operating system is supported, and related companies have also released an operating system based on Euler.

Domestic mainstream operating system manufacturers have launched Euler-based commercial distributions, which are used in core systems in operators, finance, energy, electricity, transportation and other industries. It is worth noting that the Euler system and Hongmeng have achieved kernel sharing. Since the Euler system has been donated, what about the Huawei Hongmeng system?
