Is the mechanical design automation industry popular now? Is it promising?

After graduation, I have been engaged in engineering-related work. I will tell you some of my views on automation.

Automation refers to all equipment that replaces people with machines, and control systems can be called automation. The control systems used to replace humans include PLCs and computers, and the equipment used to replace humans includes various mechanical equipment and so on. In the words of the teacher, it means to control all the physical quantities that can be controlled. It is also said that those who learn automation must have the desire to control.

Perhaps it is because the knowledge to be learned and mastered in this major is so complicated that we still have a large number of courses to learn in the semester of the senior year, and other majors have long been prepared for postgraduate entrance examinations. We have to spend a lot of time to deal with the exam. However, the complex learning content also involves some knowledge of other subjects, which will make it very easy for us to find a job. Anything is fine.

First of all, I am sure that the profession of automation is still very promising. Note that it is a future, not a "money way." This kind of panacea-like professional application is used in various industries. After all, the current trend is the era when machines replace people. But this kind of control is based on the process, which is actually the core. This situation makes it easy for automation majors to find jobs, but it is difficult to enter the company's core positions.

I found some more important courses for everyone, and laid a good foundation for future work.

1. Advanced mathematics (mathematics is the basis for learning various professional courses in the future, do not think that probability theory is useless, especially for students who want to work in DSP (digital signal processing))

2. English (don’t think it’s OK after level 4 or 6, and you don’t think you have learned too much until you use it)

3. Circuit (basic in basics, postgraduate examination subjects for automation majors)

4. Automatic control theory (theoretical basis for realizing control system, housekeeping subjects for automation majors, signature classes, postgraduate entrance examination subjects)

5. Microcomputer principle (basic of hardware such as single chip microcomputer, DSP, postgraduate entrance examination subjects, don’t think that assembly language is too low-level, it has a running speed that other high-level languages can’t compare)

6. C/C++ (no programming skills, no matter how many theoretical algorithms are learned, there is no use, especially C, you must be proficient)

7. Digital/analog electricity (basic course, the basis of electronic circuit design)

8. DSP/SCM/PLC (proficient in the structure and programming of any one of the hardware, it is very easy to find a good job)

9.matlab (a great software, a good simulation platform, which can implement various algorithms, and can view the running results and various waveforms in real time, and highly integrated commands. It is more proficient for students who want to study in the future)

10. Power electronics technology (a course on strong electricity, but very useful, whether it is a postgraduate re-examination or job interview, it is often asked)

I sorted out the occupations that can be undertaken in the automation industry, but of course it is not limited to these industries.

1. Power plants (including power distribution rooms of various companies and factories)

2. Software development (especially MCU or EDA, etc.)

3. PLC (generally in the direction of industrial control, building an operating platform, etc.)

4. Various mines, or metal smelting sites (maintenance and operation of automation equipment, etc.)

5. Go to school as a teacher

6. Do sales work (specialize in selling things related to your profession)

7. Civil servants, every profession can do

8. What kind of research institute

9. Product design is the hardware circuit design

10. The employment direction of automation majors is very wide, and you will know a lot of automation equipment by carefully observing life. However, there is a future in design, there is "money" in sales, and maintenance is the working class, which belongs to the service industry...
