In the face of the long-established strategic direction of "Cloud and nail integration", Ali has recently successfully settled down-launching the low-code development platform Dingdingyizu.
The birth of Dingdingyijia has been revealed three months ago.
At the Yunqi Conference in September 2020, Alibaba Cloud announced that it has officially entered the 2.0 stage from 1.0, and "cloud and nail integration" has become an important strategic direction. Zhang Jianfeng, President of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, also disclosed in the interview DingTalk's new positioning-to develop DingTalk with a platform-based approach, so that DingTalk will become a "new development platform" in addition to the collaborative office platform.
What is "platformization" and why should it be a "development platform"?
In simple terms, Alibaba Cloud wants DingTalk to become an entry-level platform for digital applications of enterprises/organizations, and these applications should best be developed based on DingTalk's open interface.
The first step to realize the new positioning transformation is to be able to provide enterprises with tools to develop new applications based on DingTalk. Then, the establishment of a simple and easy-to-use application development tool has become an important step for DingTalk to move towards platformization after the "cloud and nail integration".
This is an important reason for Dingding to launch a low-code development platform.
From suitable to build, to nail to build
Low-code development platform is not a new concept in the world. It is a low-code or zero-code application development tool that can be deployed across platforms, which can save enterprise application development time, simplify system integration, and improve development efficiency.
Gartner's LCAP Magic Quadrant released in September 2020
In the Magic Quadrant for Low-Code Application Development released in September 2020, Gartner referred to low-code application development as LCAP (Low-Code Application Platforms). The most representative LCAP service providers in the world are Salesforce and Microsoft. The report shows that by 2023, more than 50% of large and medium-sized enterprises will adopt LCAP as one of their strategic application platforms.
With the advancement of digitalization of Chinese enterprises, low-code development platforms have become an indispensable tool for Chinese SaaS service providers to meet the individual needs of medium and large customers.
As early as October 2016, Alibaba Group launched a low-code development platform project and named it "Yida". The main task is to serve Alibaba's internal applications and meet the business needs of the Alibaba Group.
It was not until March 2019 that Yida announced its commercial use. At that time, it has become the application PaaS platform for more than 100 business units (BU) and dozens of ecological companies in the field of collaboration and operation management within Ali Group.
Data shows that Alibaba Group has built up to 3,000 monthly active applications through the platform, serving more than 60% of Alibaba's members.
The "Ding Ding Yi Ding" released this time, the predecessor was the "Y Ding Yi Ding" that was incubated from the enterprise intelligence division.
About 10 days after the announcement of the "Cloud and Nail One" strategy in September 2019, the Alibaba Cloud Intelligent Business Group carried out a new round of organizational structure adjustments, and DingTalk was upgraded to the Dingding Business Unit. Zhang Jianfeng led the team directly. In terms of the team, the original DingTalk CEO was transferred from DingTalk without a move. The original Enterprise Intelligence Division should build a team with DingTalk Division, Alibaba Cloud Video Cloud Team, Alibaba Cloud Teambition Team, Government Enterprise Cloud Division, and Digital Government Affairs. Taiwan Business Department and some teams from Wuxing Technology joined the new Dingding Business Department.
In the official description given by Ali, this series of actions is to ensure the full implementation of the "cloud and nail integration" strategy.
After officially joining the Dingding Business Unit at the end of September 2020, Yida began to fully integrate with Dingding. Dingding Yijia is also considered by Alibaba to be the first product integration of Cloud Ding.
What changes have been made from suitable to build to Dingding to build? What is the difference between Yidah after "Cloud and Nail One" and Yidah before?
In Dingding's own words, the biggest difference is the change of roles. After merging with Dingding, Yida has evolved in parallel with Dingding and became "All in Dingding".

How to understand "All in Dingding"?
From the perspective of service targets, it should be built before the integration with Dingding. There are two characteristics of the customers served. One is to serve large enterprises like Ali Group, including large enterprises in various industries such as retail and manufacturing; the other is more Serving government customers, it has not had time to expand to other industries.
After the integration, DingTalk's service targets will expand to large, medium and small customers across the entire industry. In other words, it is a comprehensive service for companies that have application development needs on DingTalk.
"Dingding Yizua is a product of a deeper integration with the bottom layer of Dingding. The core of Yizua was the IT department of the service enterprise. After All in Dingding, it will not only serve the IT department, but also expand the service corresponding functional departments. The tool activates the individual, so that individual needs can be met, and the company's innovation ability is released. Therefore, the threshold for using Dingdingyi will be further lowered, and the experience will be further improved." Ye Zhouquan, the person in charge of Dingdingyi (name: Xiaoyong) This way of understanding some changes that have taken place in Dingding Yidah.
Ye Zhouquan also mentioned the concept of "nail original". In his view, Dingding’s companies/organizations using Dingding Yitai for application development is equivalent to entering "Dingding Native".
"'Ding Native' can really bring value to enterprises, which is a logic with cloud native."
First of all, the application developed by Dingding Yiji can use Dingding's reach system to efficiently coordinate with Dingding's various products. Secondly, "Dingzhuan" can also use the Dingding applet to improve user experience; the most important point is that "Dingzhuan" is highly scalable and can be quickly customized based on the individual needs of the enterprise in the future.
"'Ding native' goes down to'cloud native'. The overall application is flexible expansion, enterprise-level cloud security, etc. In the future, there is no need to do in-depth maintenance. Enterprises don't need to pay attention to what kind of database they use, only their own business. Logic. Using'Ding Native' is equivalent to using Alibaba Cloud's native technology." Ye Zhouquan said.
On the basis of "DingTalk", DingTalk has two core business directions in the future: first, in the incremental business, many incremental scenarios of the enterprise can be quickly built with DingTalk; second, in the enterprise On the existing stock system, it helps enterprises to make connections and break data islands.
"Dingding Yijia also has the ability of corresponding connectors, which can quickly connect the original inventory system services with connectors, solve the problem of information islands between systems, and at the same time can be more efficient and mobile anytime, anywhere Convenient office work." Ye Zhouquan said.
Take Juranzhijia as an example. Jinzhijia had a lot of financial and personnel stock systems before, but the data and business of these existing systems were fragmented. It turned out that employees need to open multiple applications to deal with problems. Now, the house of unexpectedly has connected 400+ business flows in series with Dingdingyi. Whether it is financial, personnel or administrative systems, it has been fully interconnected, and a unified interface can solve all office problems.
How is the interconnection between the various stock systems realized through DingDing Yi build?
Ye Zhouquan said: “The communication between enterprise business flows must be through API message interconnection. Before the interconnection between existing systems, enterprises may need to carry out secondary development, but now, using the ability of the AIP connector of Yidao, Many heterogeneous systems can be fully connected without further development."
From "Dings and Dings Should Be Set Up" and "Cloud and Dings in One"
From June 2020, Alibaba Cloud will take the "cloud and nail integration" as the three major directions for re-growth, and in September 2020, Alibaba Cloud will reiterate this concept, and now Dingdingyi will become the first "cloud and nail integration". Achievements, Alibaba Cloud's self-adjustment has gone through half a year.
From the perspective of Yijia, the "cloud and nail integration" is deepening into the business and product integration of Alibaba Cloud and Dingding.
"Before the integration, we will have two service outlets, one is Alibaba Cloud and the other is DingTalk. Now Yunding is integrated, and after adding DingTalk, everyone is actually a family, so they are all together. "Ye Zhouquan said.
On the one hand, Yida may have to work independently on everything, but after integrating with Dingding, in addition to opening up the account system, in the future, Yida can even develop with Dingding’s ecology and channels, and the team’s energy can be more focused on Low-code development products.
On the other hand, the inclusion of Yitai into Dingding is to complement Dingding’s ability and ecology. This is also one of the purposes of "Cloud and Nail One".
“It turns out that DingTalk may have more small and medium customers, and Alibaba Cloud has more major customers. But slowly I discovered that Alibaba Cloud’s large customers actually need DingTalk, and they also need a refined product similar to Yidah; on the other hand, Among Dingding customers, there are also some small and medium-sized enterprises that are slowly developing. They also need the services of the entire Alibaba Cloud and the high-tech algorithm of Dharma Academy. Therefore, the two are actually 1+1 greater than 2." Ye Zhouquan Say.
Therefore, on the one hand, enterprises are encouraged to create "DingTalk native" applications through DingTalk. On the other hand, DingTalk has also opened many APIs to support enterprises' independent integration of DingTalk applications.
"For low-code, it is impossible to solve 100% of the scenarios. For example, when it is necessary to integrate and connect with the company's internal system and the intermediate logic is very complicated, in this case we allow API to write code." Ye Zhouquan Say.
Ye Zhouquan bluntly said that although DingTalk has served more than 15 million enterprises and organizations, the application ecosystem on DingTalk needs to be further expanded. "The digital demands of Dingding companies are far from being met. We need more industry solution providers to come in and work together to improve the services of the entire company and grow together."
It can be seen that in the future, there will be more combinations that can display the value of 1+1>2, which will be staged in the "cloud and nail integration".
